Summary: It aims at the understanding and discussion of the process of productive restructuring and its consequences in the use of new technologies of production and management in contrast to the old paradigms of domination and alienation of the employee. The theoretical guidelines of work organization used are the craftwork production, the taylorism/fordism, the job enrichement and the team work analysed from a socio-technical perspective. It demonstrates the productive restructuring of the furniture industry in Espírito Santo, more specifically in Linhares, in the northern region of the state. From this theoretical reference point, the investigation involves the field research in order to chart the aspects of the productive restructuring and work organization at Movelar, a company of the furniture industry in Linhares. The results of the research indicate the development of the company which becomes the largest furniture manufacturer in Espírito Santo and also reveal the model of work organization based on Roberto Marx's conception about enriched groups, since the work is organized on a well-divided and standardised basis, without any autonomy, but it is used an open communication which allows the "involvement" of the employees in the process
