Summary: The approach of this study refers to the bidirectional relationship between burnout
levels and work-family/family-work conflict among teachers at the Instituto Federal do
Espírito Santo (Ifes). The aim of this research is to answer the following research
question: what is the relationship between burnout levels and work-family/family-work
conflict among teachers at the Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo? The general objective
of this research is to investigate the relationship between burnout levels and
work-family/family-work conflict among teachers at the Instituto Federal do Espírito
Santo (Ifes). To achieve this objective, four specific objectives were outlined: to identify
the level of burnout among teachers at Ifes; to characterize the level of workfamily/
family-work conflict among teachers at Ifes; to analyze the influence of sociodemographic
factors on the relationship between burnout and work-family/familywork
conflict among teachers at Ifes; and to report the relationship between burnout
levels and work-family/family-work conflict among teachers at Ifes. The method used
was a quantitative approach with the application of online questionnaires, composed
of three blocks: sociodemographic, burnout (CESQT) and work-family conflict (CTF).
The sample consisted of 155 teachers from different Ifes campuses. The results revealed
worrying levels of psychological exhaustion, with significant influence from
variables such as age, workload and length of service. The conclusions showed that
institutional strategies aimed at balancing professional and personal life are essential
to prevent emotional exhaustion and promote a sustainable educational environment.
This study contributes by expanding the academic debate on occupational health and
by suggesting actions that can be applied in the context of federal educational institutions.
