ANALYSIS OF POWER RELATIONS INHERENT IN THE PRODUCTION RESTRUCTURING PROCESS OF Aracruz Celulose SA, in the 1990s.

Summary: It is observed that starting from the decade of 1980 a global movement of restructuring of the productive apparels swept the western world driving the companies of global base and also a series of other organizations of smaller load she that direction that brought as main imperative the need of the constant change and renewal of the productive bases to satisfy the demands of the market proceed. The model of organization of the automobile industry Toyota Company served as head office for most of those projects of modifications of productive structures to endow them of larger flexibility and agility in the intention of satisfying the demands of the market that it was presented by the neoliberal doctrines as a transcendent entity that it selected the most capable organizations in the dispute for the survival. Aracruz Cellulose's productive unit located S.A. in the district of Barra do Riacho (INCEL) in the municipal district of Aracruz of Espírito Santo state it went by that same problem of modifications in elapsing of the decade of 1990. It made with this objective of reaching larger agility and flexibility of their production process a daring project WHERE their productive structures went by painful modifications among which the conversion of the departments, that were the form as the structure was organized, in processes and also the informatization of all of the work routines through a modification of the technical base in the which the operators made their operations. In those transformations it was needed that a modification of the profiles presented by the operators of that industry came to be consummated. Would began, like this, an intense training program in the second phase of the restructuring so that the hand of work of that factory was updated in technical terms and it also acquired attitudes to propitiate a larger engagement of their activities with the larger objective addressed more and more by the managers of looking for profitability taxes growing. In the training program created for this end were used in an abundant way the resources discipline described by Michel Foucault: it was looked for through the exam to classify the operators in terms of technical abilities and also in terms of political positioning, besides, with this resource, they be created an individual base of data that it supplied necessary data of each operator for the evaluation of the managements; it was looked for through the sanction normalization to dose the rewards and punishments in the intention of promoting the acceptance of the new normalizations of the work routines and, through the creation of a pyramid of glances characteristic of the hierarchical surveillance, to allow the observation of all of the spaces and all of the actions accomplished inside the factory of INCEL. The result of those political investments discipline was a brutal allied production of subjectivities to the modifications of the technical base of the factory INCEL, WHERE the contrary political positioning the those modifications were reduced by the united work of the exam (in the identification) and of the sanction normalization (punishment). Would draw, like this, one intrinsically relation between the management technologies utilized on the production restructuring and the subjectivities that was emerge of that process.
