ADOLESCENTES and the Choice of Professional Career: a Look from the Perspective of Consumption and New Communication Technologies.

Summary: The consumption became a factor of extreme relevance in the cultural formation of our society. Through the consumption we reproduce our values and we express our feelings. Signs and meanings are presents in the products, wich are used by the individuals to communicate and differentiate from others. Communication, advertising, culture and consumption is part of a context, is through medias that occurs the transference of values and symbols, that are shared socially, for the products. The form to consume information in our society is changing. New medias had appeared as the Internet, the cellular phone, the instantaneous communicators and the VoIP. These new technologies of communication had changed the behavior of the individuals, mainly of the adolescents who are the social group better adapted to these technologies. This work will approach an important moment for the adolescents, the choice of the professional career. This research has the objective to understand, under the optics of the consumption, the relation of the adolescents, of the high and average social class of the City of Vitória, with the choice of the professional career, considering the use of the new technologies of communication. For this, the methodology will be divided in three phases. First, will be analyzed researchs and studies about culture and consumption , development of the new technologies of communication, consumption habits of the adolescents and the choice of the Institutions of Superior Education. Later, will be presented 3 focus groups of adolescents . Finally, the data collected in the Focus Group will be treated and analyzed.
