Summary: This paper analyzes how the political conscience and the predisposition to the participation of UFES library servants in the collective actions of SINTUFES during the 2014 to 2019 management are configured. It adopts as a theoretical framework the “Analytical Model of
Political Awareness to Understand Participation in Collective Actions ”(SANDOVAL E SILVA, 2016). It is a qualitative research, with data obtained from a documentary research in the electronic minutes of the meetings and in the union newspapers and semi-structured
interviews, submitted to content analysis. The research was carried out during the Jair Bolsonaro government marked by attacks on unions and federal universities. The results reveal the collective actions of the union (meetings, assemblies, public acts, protests, affirmative, commemorative and recreational actions), published on its website and social
networks. Of the 88 servers in the libraries, 18 are affiliated with SINTUFES. Of these, 13 granted the interviews, of which 8 participate and 5 do not participate in the collective actions of the union. The 8 individuals who participate have a history of participation in associations,
churches, student movement, political party, professional council and union, prior to union membership. They show interest in defending rights and participating in collective matters, and discomfort in not being able to participate anymore due to dissatisfaction with the agenda of
the union's management. Participation is generated by raising awareness of the current political situation in Brazil and the university, seeing in collective actions a feeling of strengthening, belonging and changes in their professional lives. In Minutes, they express the need to give voice to local demands, reduce inequalities, pride in the history of struggles,
defense of policies for minorities and the need to overcome the feeling of distance between the union and UFES library servants. We highlight the strong and powerful presence of women who reveal a predisposition to apply for the direction of the Union. The 5 subjects who do not
participate also have no history of participation before joining SINTUFES, whose lack of engagement and lack of interest in participating in the collective actions of the union are anchored in the University Management of the Rectory, showing a feeling of frustration with
the actions of the union . The non-participation is justified by the lack of time available, difficulty of release by the University Direction and incompatibility with the actions of the union's Direction. It is concluded that both the employees who participate and those who do not
participate, consider the union relevant in the defense and protection of the public university against the actions of the Federal Government, pointing out suggestions for greater approximation and involvement between the union and the library workers of the UFES. This
work fills a gap in organizational studies with a psychopolitical approach to the (de) mobilization of workers in participation in collective actions.
