Summary: The field of study of tourist routes adopts different perspectives. The present research elaborated a classification referring to the studies that articulate the tourist routes and divided it into: (1) Tourist routes as prescribed maps; (2) Tourist routes as experiential routes. The context of these studies did not reveal the presence of research that analyzes the tourist routes according to the practices perspective. From this need, the aim of this research was to understand the practices of the tourist routes that involve a receptive tourism agency of the city of Vitória, in Espírito Santo, Brazil, based on the epistemology of practices according to Theodore Schatzki. A qualitative research was accomplished. It has used as a data collection procedure: documentary research (CELLARD, 2008), informal interviews (FONTANA; FREY, 2005) and participant observations (MALINOWSKI, 1978). The subjects of the research were touristics and non-touristics human, as well as the materials that support human actions. Data treatment occurred from themes defined a posteriori (KRIPPENDORFF, 2004) through the spiral analysis procedure proposed by Creswell (2012). The results indicate that the "tourist route as practice" dynamics occurs throughout the practice of the route, not just before during the visit to the tourist spots. This dynamic is a result of interactions between humans and materials, be they tourist or non-tourist, who, from the elements that organize the practices, can be transformed from non-tourist to tourist and promote changes throughout the network configuration practices. Furthermore, this research also reveals that the time element transforms the experiences and meanings of spaces. It became clear that during the tourist route practice the human and material became tourist elements, a relationship that only existed during the "tourist route as practice". Moreover, the research revealed that the "tourist route as practice" presents shares that allow to deal with non-sharing, while allowing it to occur. With this research is expected to contribute to the theoretical-empirical development of approaches capable of analyzing the complexity of the tourism sector (BISPO, 2016). At the end, some alternative for further research were discussed. Keywords: Practice Theory. Schatzki's Epistemology. Tourism as Practice. Tourist Route. Tourist route as Practice.
