Summary: This research intends to describe the characteristics of managerial work of educational administrators, initiating the study of school administrators, coordinators that meet multigrade schools and heads of divisions of the Department of Education of the City of Santa Maria de Jetibá - ES. We sought to characterize the management action starting from the perceptions of these managers held with the other members of the school community, management teams and management of the municipal. To understand the diversity, complexity and dynamic relationships of managers, semi-structured interviews that contributed to deepening these dynamics were performed. Documents were analyzed to characterize the knowledge and formatting of the organizational structure of the board of education. The reports of the interviews showed fragments that could guide ideas for better treatment of the data were performed by analyzing the contents interviewed managers. The conversations held with these respondents showed ambiguity, dynamism and plurality in the development of management functions of educational administrators who are leaders, and fellow performers work together with other components of the education management relations environment. Thus, expectations are that this research can make new dialogues arise to discuss the relationships of educational managers, particularly on the actions of the coordinators who work with the multigrade schools and members of the internal leadership of the educational systems of education management.
